Todd Hirsch, Economist & Director, set the stage for #BTFAlberta with an insightful exploration of the drivers of disruption in today's economy. Here are the key takeaways from his presentation, "Navigating the Uncertain Economy of 2024": ➡️ Strategic Success: Hirsch emphasized that achieving success in turbulent times often requires a blend of grand gestures and consistent team support. While there are moments for bold moves, the consistent presence and support of leaders can be equally impactful for organizational resilience. ➡️ Preparation over Prediction: Rather than attempting to predict every twist and turn in the economic landscape, Hirsch advocated for a focus on preparedness. By developing robust contingency plans and adaptable strategies, businesses can effectively navigate uncertainties and mitigate risks. A big thank you to Bennett Jones for sponsoring this session! #btf #alberta #businessgrowth #economy

Cody Church (Clear North Capital), Dania F., Brenda Slauko, CBV (BDC) and Kevin Shaw, MBA (Baker Tilly Canada) delved into the complexities of business decision-making, highlighting key insights for entrepreneurs facing the pivotal question of whether to sell or grow their businesses at #BTFAlberta. Here's a breakdown of the key takeaways: 🎯 Cody outlined three critical buckets to consider: personal goals, professional aspirations, and shareholder objectives. Balancing these priorities is crucial as they cannot all be maximized simultaneously. 🤝 Dania underscored the responsibility of owners in maintaining team cohesion amidst transitions. Holding the team together emerges as a paramount duty for business leaders. 🔄 Kevin emphasized the importance of agility and adaptability, particularly in pivoting and growing despite challenges. For businesses with growth potential, the focus should be on incremental progress every day. A big thank you to ACT Capital Advisors for sponsoring this session! #btf #businessgrowth #alberta

Less than one week until The Business Transitions Forum! Looking forward to discussing a new topic to the conference this year - Planning for Life After the Close! I love that we’re discussing this because I believe it’s something many entrepreneurs don’t really think about in advance. When you run a business, it becomes such a big part of your life… but when it’s gone, now what? There are days I still think about my former life as Publisher of snapd Wood Buffalo. And as I look ahead to what the future holds, I’m thinking a lot these days about what transitioning one of my businesses looks like and how different my life will be not wearing that hat! When you invest so much time, passion and energy into building something from the ground up, there’s bound to be a lot of emotions and questions that come up. After all, that business is part of your identity. Still time to get tickets! So many great topics and speakers, I can’t wait to soak it all in, Hope to see you there. https://lnkd.in/gYgMiCnk
